Q: Can you share why you chose Sun Dragon Yoga?

A: I was fortunate enough to find Sun Dragon Yoga a little more than a year ago.  I had been fairly active in the past but, at the time, was sidelined for months due to back pain.  I was afraid that any new activity would leave me in more pain, although I knew that improving my core strength was critical to my recovery.   David was aware of my fear and spent much time teaching me about positioning and how slight adjustments would be easier on my back and help me avoid injury.   As a result, my back is stronger and my flexibility has improved dramatically. Yoga is now an important part of my life.  I start most days with David.  The studio is very convenient, and the smaller classes are much more personalized and less intimidating than other studios.  The weekday early morning classes are perfect for my hectic work schedule.  By 7:15 most mornings, after a 45 minute class, I’m feeling relaxed and limber and ready to take on the day.

Q: Can you share a little about yourself?

A: This past year has been a difficult one, with great challenges. I work full time as a Marketing Director for a leading Money Transfer company; am in my 60’s and have been practicing Yoga on and off for about 8 years. I’m not that great at it but it is something that makes me feel good and I love it. I had stopped doing most forms of exercise for about a year prior to Sun Dragon Yoga because of severe hip pain due to arthritis. I attribute my inner strength and feeling of wellbeing to getting back to Yoga; I like feeling stronger, calmer and better!

With so many options out there, what made you choose Sun Dragon Yoga?

I found Sun Dragon a little over one year ago, a few months after having hip replacement surgery. David was welcoming and there was a comfortable and relaxed, spiritual environment in the studio. My Orthopedic Surgeon attributed my rapid healing and increased range of motion to yoga. I was also fortunate that Sun Dragon was in my neighborhood. David is patient and he gently guides you through poses, allowing no room for injury or pain. He is committed to his practice and knows not everyone will have perfect form. I appreciate that.

Is there anything you’d like to share about your experience so far?

After improving my flexibility and feeling of wellness at Sun Dragon and falling into a very comfortable routine, I was hit with an OMG moment in life – 9 months ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Throughout 5 months of difficult treatments I relied on Yoga to make me feel better each day that I practiced. David’s support and assistance in breathing correctly for ‘stress relief’ while starting this journey helped me tremendously. Today, as I continue the marathon of treatments to live I think of him when I ‘breathe’. David’s demeanor and faith in practice motivated me to continue and not give up; even when my energy was zapped and I didn’t feel like doing yoga or anything else for  that matter. There have been quite a few days when I have physically not been able to make it but David reaches out to check on me and I know that each time I return I will be welcomed and not judged. And, David’s music playlist is fantastic! Although I now have a ‘new look’ I’m getting used to, every day I give thanks that I found David and Sun Dragon and I am focused on being ALIVE!

 Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself?

A: I am a managing editor for industrial engineering magazines and have spent my life as a writer, reporter and editor. This entails sitting at a desk and pounding on a keyboard, which inevitably has led to low back pain and other issues.

 

With so many options out there, what made you choose Sun Dragon Yoga?

Location and class size were my two main criteria for choosing Sun Dragon Yoga. The studio is convenient to office and home in the Peachtree Corners/Norcross area. I can leave the office at 11:45 a.m., change at the studio, take the noon class, change back to work clothes and return to the office at 1. Since classes are small, Sun Dragon is perfect for the beginning yogi (I started in May 2016). The individual attention has helped me with my form and ensured that I’m doing the poses correctly, something I never felt at studios with massive 30-40 person classes.

 

Is there anything you’d like to share about your experience thus far at Sun Dragon Yoga?

The individual attention and care that David and Diane take are important. That’s really what keeps me coming back and converting my haphazard twice-a-week practice to a full membership. My low back pain has decreased by at least 50 percent if not more. Other areas are improving as far as flexibility and strength. Particularly if you’re an office worker in the Peachtree Corners/Norcross area, Sun Dragon Yoga can benefit you.

Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself?

A: My family and I have lived in Peachtree Corners for 24 years. I enjoy gardening, reading, walking my dog and spending time with my husband and our 3 children.

 

With so many options out there, what made you choose Sun Dragon Yoga?

I was looking for a studio where, as a beginner, I would feel comfortable and not intimidated by others who have been practicing yoga for years. I found Sun Dragon Yoga online and the reviews were excellent so I gave it a try. Six months later I am still going 3 days a week and loving it.

 

Is there anything you’d like to share about your experience thus far at Sun Dragon Yoga?

When I started 6 months ago I was a beginner at yoga. David was extremely helpful, giving me advice throughout the classes so that I learned quickly. I always leave feeling uplifted both physically and mentally and I am definitely the strongest and most fit I have been in years.

Q: Can you share why you chose Sun Dragon Yoga?

A: I am 62 years old and attended my first yoga class at Sun Dragon Yoga eight months ago. I have struggled with balance and flexibility. I spend 10 hours a day at my desk on the computer and had been taking a ridiculous amount of ibuprofen for the pain in my shoulder that radiated down my arm and hand. Two weeks after taking yoga classes, the pain subsided and I no longer needed to take ibuprofen! Also, I was spending a lot of money on massages to help with the pain which would resurface a day later. The massages and ibuprofen were only a temporary fix. Yoga has been a permanent fix! David and the other instructors, Jan and Diane, are absolutely fantastic and each of them offer a slightly different yoga instruction which I equally enjoy. I cannot imagine life without yoga, thanks to David. I go two to three times a week. Yoga has reduced my stress level tremendously and I am amazed every week with what I am able to do in class. Whether you are new to yoga or a long-time yogi, Sun Dragon Yoga is the best!
